Vitamin C plays a major role in eliminating cancer causing free radicals, potassium is very important for improving nerve health and iron for maintaining normal blood circulation. They also contain solanine which increases the amount of calcium in tissues and can cause inflammation. Tomatoes consumption also increases the level of uric acid in our body leading to gout.

100 grams of tomatoes contains 18 calories, 95 percent of water, 0.9 grams of protein, 3.9 grams of carbohydrate, 2.6 gram of sugar, and 1.2 gram of sugar. Apart from this other nutrients present in tomatoes are vitamin C, potassium, vitamin K1, B-vitamin folate and plant compound such as beta-carbonate, lycopene, chlorogenic acid and naringenin.
